Open house
An open house and reception for the Gaston College East Campus will be Oct. 8.
This event is open to the public and scheduled for 4:30 p.m. in the general classroom building at 7230 Wilkinson Blvd. in Belmont.
Gaston County voters approved bond funds to the college to support the renovation of over 13,000 square feet in the general classroom building. A second floor was added to the facility’s existing high bay areas, adding over 6,300 square feet to make new classrooms, computer labs, offices and other areas in the facility.




Chicken and fish dinners
Hood Memorial AME Zion Church will sponsor chicken and fish plates, May 9-10. Plates are $8 each and will be served Friday, starting at 11 a.m., and Saturday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Each will feature either fried chicken, potato salad, green beans, a roll and dessert or fried fish, baked beans, cole slaw, bread and dessert. Customers eating in will receive free iced tea.

Golf Tourney
EGHS is sponsoring their first annual golf tournament on Monday, May 19 at Verdict Ridge. Registration is at 10:45 and tee time is at 11. The cost is $125 for an individual player or $500 for a foursome. All golfers receive a certificate for a free wedge putter plus a gift bag valued at $250. Hole and varying level sponsorships are also available. Proceeds will benefit the school’s MRSA fund to construct showers in the field house. For more information contact (704)913-4232.

Spring Concert and Chorus Concerts
Join us for the annual MHMS band Spring Concert on Thursday, May 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. All bands from the sixth-grade, seventh-grade and eight-grade will be featured. Admission is free.

Also, don’t forget the eighth-grade Chorus Concert on May 15th at 9 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium. Both groups have worked hard preparing a variety of selections so come support their efforts and hear the sweet sounds of Spring!
