Month-long concerts in park start Saturday

BELMONT—The free “Concerts in the Park” series starts Saturday.
Belmont Parks and Recreation Director Sallie Stevenson said last week that Parks and Rec would present a concert each Saturday evening this month at 7 p.m. in Stowe Park at the amphitheatre.
“Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets to place on the hill and enjoy the variety of musical entertainment,” said Stevenson.
She added that the Shack, the park’s concession stand, would offer Tony’s Ice Cream and milkshakes, sodas and snacks.
Saturday’s show will be rock music performed by the Center City Groove Band. June 14, the 25-piece Charlotte Civic Orchestra will perform. June 21 will bring bluegrass by the Grass Cats, and the Catalinas will play beach music on June 28.
