Blood drive
BLOOD DRIVE
The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas will have a blood drive with the city of
Belmont on Friday, Jan. 9, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. The drive will be located at the City of Belmont at 115 N. Main St.
Come visit us. Every drop stays here.



East Gaston recognizes athletes


Cameron Sealey and Desman Graham were named Athletes of the year at the recent East Gaston High School Spring Athletic Awards banquet.

Sealey played point guard on the girl’s basketball team and third base on the softball team. Graham was a power forward for Coach Ken Howell’s basketball team and a quarterback on the football team.


Other award winners were:

• Golf – Medalist Award, Will Vellers and Chris Carver.

• Softball – Coaches Award, Ashley Morris; Warrior Award, Hannah McGee; Defensive Award, Blair Collier; Co-Offensive Award, Cameron and Tameron Sealey; MVP, Michelle Primm.

• Girl’s Track – MVP, La’Creesha Gore; Most Improved, Chelsea Ritter; Distance Runner Award, Brittany Conrad.

• Boy’s Track – Most Improved, Ashton Wilson; Coaches Award, Stephen Timpson; Robert D. Keaton Award, Brannon Sanders; Most Outstanding Distance, Patrick Rhyne; MVP, Jeremy Reid.

• Boy’s Tennis – Most Improved, Christopher Kiser; Co-Coaches Award, Jake Cheek and Jacob Easter.

• Baseball – MVP, Jordan Graham; Best Defense, Nic O’Brien; Best Offense, Jason Borjas and Trey Deason; True Warrior Award, Ricky Martin; Most Improved, Ben Merritt; Coaches Award, Stephen Butler and Jay Puckett.

• Girl’s Soccer – Warrior Award, Janet Smith; Offensive Player of the Year, Crystal Ocasio; Defensive Player of the Year, Sydney Heffner; Most Valuable, Kylie Payne.

Criswell Award Winners – Female, Janet Smith and Male, Stephen Timpson.

Athlete of the Year – Female, Cameron Sealey and Male, Desman Graham.
